ECK works on two licenses: basic and enterprise. At KFUPM we purchased platinum license, there we cannot use ECK, forced to upgrade the existing Virtual Machine based nodes.
How charges for licenses?
They charge per node basis. Each license type has it own definition about what a node is. E.g. in platinum a machine with 64GB RAM is a node.
Platinum vs Enterprise licenses ATTACH
To purchase platinum license minimum 3 nodes should be purchased and for enterprise license minimum of 6 nodes should be purchased.
Rough estimation of pricing, from meeting with : platinum 25k SAR per node, for 3 minimum, it will be around 80k SAR, what we paid already. enterprise 50k SAR per node, for 6 minimum nodes, it will be around 300k SAR per annum.
More details about the licenses are attached in the pdf on parent of this node.
ECK vs Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE)
- Both of them requires enterprise license.
- ECE will give on premise extra dashboards to manage deployments, similar to the dashobards we get while using elastic on cloud SAAS service. Will run on Virtual Machines
- ECK, no such dashboard, but the installations will be on .
